What to Expect when visiting Truth Bible
Church:
Loving People: Our people are
diverse, warm, and friendly. We want everyone to know we are disciples (followers) of
Jesus by our supreme love for God and our sincere love for people (Matthew
22:37-39).
Biblical Preaching: Our Pastor and leaders primarily practice expository preaching (preaching through books of the Bible
verse by verse and emphasizing the reading, interpreting, explaining, and
practical application of Biblical commands and principles to our day to day
lives). There will be some topical preaching that is still derived directly
from the Scriptures. We strive to be Biblicists in that everything we do in our
lives and church lines up with the Bible. Our goal is to make sure every person
has a real relationship with the Lord and is growing spiritually to be more and
more like Jesus in knowledge, character, and actions (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Emphasis on Communion & Believer's Baptism: We take seriously
the Biblical blueprint of the church found in Acts 2:42. "They (the early
church) were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching
(preaching) and to fellowship (meeting toether), to the breaking of bread (communion) and to
prayer (talking to God)." 1 Corinthians 11 says that the Lord’s Supper is a time to
remember what Jesus did for us on the cross, look forward to His second coming, and examine our
lives to confess any sin. Thus,
communion is a time to thankgiving, confession, and proclaimation to others why Jesus' blood and
righteousness are the only means to be forgiven and accepted into God's Kingdom.
Everyone that has assurance of their
salvation (knowing for sure that they have sincerely and completely repented of
their sins and placed their faith solely in Jesus Christ as their personal
Savior and Lord ) can take
communion with us. Believer's Baptism is also commanded by our Lord Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 which states that after becoming a disciple (follower of Jesus), a believer should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thus, we aim to make baptism available anytime a believer desires to take this first step of obedience in following Jesus as their Lord. We also aim to follow up on everyone who is baptized by discipling them (spiritual instruction/training) to become mature Christians through obedience to the third part of the Great Commission "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Worshipful Music: The music at Truth Bible
Church is a blend of
traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music. We encourage all who join
us to be exuberant in worship as we sing to the Lord and edify each other
through song (Colossians 3:16). We invite you to utilize your musical gifts and
talents for the Lord through special music or volunteering for the praise team.
Even if you are not very musical, you
can suggest your favorite hymns and songs to be sung in one of our services.
Family Oriented: The first half hour
of our service during the music time is a time for family worship where the
whole church is gathered together.
Modest Dress: We encourage our people
to dress modestly (1 Timothy 2:9) and reverently for the Lord's Day on Sunday.
There is no specific dress code to come worship with us, but we do discourage beach attire or casual attitudes in worshipping God. This doesn't mean that men must come in three piece suits and ties, or women must have specific length dresses. Your heart attitude towards worship (which is reflected by what you wear) is the most important thing to God and to us.
Cheerful Giving: We do receive an
offering in every service to meet the physical needs of our people, pay our
bills, and support our Pastor and operational expenses. We don't expect our guests
to give (they can if they are so led by the Lord) as we believe it is the
responsibility of those who have made Truth Bible
Church their church home
to financially support our ministries. While giving is a repeated and important
command in the Bible, it also says its should done cheerfully and not by compulsion
(2 Corinthians 9:7).
Evangelism and Discipleship Focused: Overall,
we pray that you will see God's blessing and power working through us to:
- help new people come to know
Jesus (Converted by the Gospel)
- teach people how to read,
study, and apply the Bible (Consistent in the Word)
- train people to exercise an
overcoming and expectant faith that regularly seeks God's power and
blessing (Constant in Prayer)
- encourage people to serve
together and build deep, lasting, and enjoyable friendships (Committed to
Fellowship)
- motivate people to be bold in
sharing their faith with others (Courageous in Witnessing)
- remind people to do
everything in a manner worthy of the Lord (Continual Worship)
- and overall see God use us to
impact the lives of others for eternity (Contagious Christians)
Small Group Fellowship: We
think it is important for people to connect with other people. We don't
just want people coming, watching, and then leaving. After each
service, we invite our people and guests to stay and get to know each
other. Throughout the week we meet in small groups to focus on what the Bible describes as "the one anothers" (love one
another, encourage one another, bear one another's burdens).
