11. Church
The Church is comprised of all true believers who defend and declare truth to the world.[1] The church is comprised of all true believers.[2] Local churches are formed by believers who assemble and unite under biblically qualified elders and deacons[3] for the purpose of worship,[4] discipleship,[5] evangelism,[6] fellowship,[7] and service.[8] Elders[9] are called to lead[10] and shepherd the church[11] by teaching sound doctrine[12], refuting those who contradict,[13] and equipping the people towards spiritual maturity.[14] Deacons are called to serve the needs of the church as examples of godliness.[15] The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the church to observe two ordinances until His return – baptism[16] and communion.[17] Christ is the head of the church[18] and the church is the bride[19] and body[20] of Christ called to be holy and blameless.[21]
