8. Satan and Demons
A powerful angel[1] named Lucifer[2] sinned through pride and rebelled against God.[3] He is also known[4] as the Serpent,[5] the Devil,[6] the Evil One,[7] and Satan.[8] Satan, fell along with other fallen angels,[9] called demons.[10] They pursue their own glory[11] and oppose everything that is of God.[12] They keep unbelievers enslaved to sin,[13] blinded to the gospel,[14] and some they possess with total control.[15] They are always deceiving, tempting, accusing, and seeking to destroy the followers of God.[16] Satan was the originator of sin[17] and the deceiver of Adam and Eve.[18] Through their sin, mankind was subjected to Satan’s power. Satan and his demons now have temporary dominion in the world[19] until their final judgment.[20]
