9. Man
God created all men in His image[1] to enjoy a personal relationship with Him[2] and to be His stewards that rule over His creation.[3] Adam, the first man, sinned[4] and was punished by God with a curse of hard labor,[5] physical death,[6] and separation from God.[7] Adam’s sin nature and curse was passed on to all mankind[8] so that all men are born sinners, [9] deserving death,[10] separated from God,[11] and awaiting judgment from God.[12] All men have sinned[13] and rebelled against God[14] so that no man loves God,[15] understands God,[16] or seeks God. No man is considered righteous or a good person[17] by God on account of their own effort or good deeds.[18] All men are defiant,[19] deceived,[20] depraved,[21] and deserving eternal punishment.[22] Without God man is hopeless,[23] unfulfilled,[24] and lacks peace.[25] Without a Savior, unsaved men are slaves to sin[26] and called children of the devil,[27] children of wrath,[28] and enemies of God.[29]
