9. Man
God created all men
in His image to enjoy a
personal relationship with Him and to be His stewards that rule over
His creation. Adam, the
first man, sinned and was
punished by God with a curse of hard labor,
physical death, and
separation from God. Adam’s sin nature and curse was passed
on to all mankind so that all
men are born sinners, deserving
death,
separated from God,
and awaiting judgment from God. All men have sinned
and rebelled against God
so that no man loves God,
understands God, or seeks
God. No man is considered
righteous or a good person
by God on account of their own effort or good deeds. All men are defiant,
deceived, depraved,
and deserving eternal punishment.
Without God man is hopeless,
unfulfilled, and lacks
peace. Without a Savior, unsaved men are
slaves to sin and called
children of the devil,
children of wrath,
and enemies of God.
